Ucima names Maurizio Bertocco as new president

The Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (Ucima) has revealed that Maurizio Bertocco will become its new president.

The Ilpra chairman and chief executive officer will succeed Riccardo Cavanna on 2 July, during Ucima’s annual general meeting. Cavanna has been described by the association as leading with ‘authority and strategic vision’.

Bertocco will serve in the role until 2030.

His nomination as Ucima president is intended to strengthen the body’s role as a key reference point for the sector, in an ‘increasingly complex and competitive market environment’.

Four decades at the helm

Bertocco has led Mortara-based Ilpra, which sells packaging machinery for the food, cosmetics and medical sectors, since the 1980s, supporting its expansion across European and international markets, where it is now present in 130 countries.

The company was founded in 1955 and is listed on the stock exchange.

“Today, Ucima is a recognised international benchmark for the packaging sector,” said Bertocco.

“Taking over from Riccardo Cavanna is both an honour and a responsibility that I approach with great determination.

“My commitment will be to further strengthen the association’s role by supporting the competitiveness of member companies and guiding the sector through the challenges of technological innovation and sustainability, with the aim of continuing to enhance the global presence and reputation of Italian packaging.”
