Silgan Dispensing, a supplier of dispensing systems including plastics components for the beauty and personal care markets, has developed a new version of its Melodie Pirouette SNI 13 dispenser for refillable fragrance bottles.
The dispenser was introduced at Luxe Pack Monaco as part of a collaboration with French glass packaging manufacturer Groupe Pochet, which developed a moulded glass bottle with a 13mm threaded neck for the new dispenser.
Silgan’s product specifications for the Melodie Pirouette range list PP heads and a plastics threaded ferrule with collar for SNI 13 configurations, alongside metal head options.
Threaded neck
The new version is designed to fit the threaded neck, with the removable plastics threaded ferrule allowing the dispenser to be separated from the moulded glass bottle for refilling or recycling.
The company said the new version is intended to support refillable fragrance packaging across a range of moulded glass formats, including smaller bottles designed for on-the-go use.
The dispenser is compatible with Silgan’s Replay Connector refill system and is designed to withstand frequent and multiple refills.
Exploring different approaches
Silgan and Groupe Pochet describe the bottle development as the first moulded glass bottle with an SNI 13 screw neck. A French patent application has been filed for the development.
The launched comes as packaging suppliers explore different approaches involving glass and plastics.
Earlier this month, Indorama Ventures and Rebhan introduced a PET bottle for the beauty and personal care market designed to provide a glass-like appearance while retaining PET’s lightweight, durable and shatter-resistant properties.
