US speciality film manufacturer Charter Next Generation (CNG) is to extend its Lexington campus by 157,000 sq ft and introduce 12 new film packaging lines.
The company also intends to add four new extrusion lines at its Ontario-based premises to meet ‘growing demand in the consumer goods space’.
The developments form part of CNG’s $106 million investment in facilities and equipment.
An additional 125 new positions are expected to be created between both facilities, bolstering the total number of jobs to 1,361.
Established in 1971, CNG is a provider of speciality films and material science solutions, serving the food, consumer goods, industrial, and healthcare sectors.
Remaining in Ohio
The company, which has manufacturing capabilities across 17 US facilities, said it had closely collaborated with Team NEO, a private, nonprofit economic development organisation, JobsOhio, Ohio’s nonprofit economic development corporation, ODOD, and Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development to ensure the expansion remained in Ohio versus other parts of the country where it has operations.
“We are honoured to partner with Team NEO, JobsOhio, and other local partners in the Richland County area,” said Kathy Bolhous, CNG chief executive and chair.
“The state and local support pledged to the project will enable us to fulfil our purpose of ‘Enhancing lives for a better future’ by creating meaningful opportunities that benefit our employee owners, our neighbours, and the broader community.
‘Continued investment’
“Through continued investment in innovative speciality films and material science solutions, we are proud to strengthen the local workforce, drive economic growth, and build a more resilient future.
“This partnership accelerates progress in sustainable solutions and infrastructure, paving the way for long-term impact.”
Team NEO chief executive Matt Dolan added: “CNG’s continued growth in Northeast Ohio is a reflection of the strength of our region’s thriving food processing industry and robust food supply chain assets.
“We remain committed to collaborating closely with CNG to drive continued success.”
At the start of the year, CNG received ISCC Plus certification for its Lexington manufacturing campus.
