Alpla has launched a foam dispenser pump made entirely from PP for personal care and pharmaceutical products.
The metal-free pump, developed by Alpla’s injection moulding division AlplaInject, weighs 25g in its standard version and features a twistlock function designed to reduce the space it takes up during transport and on shelves.
The patented dispenser is designed as a mono-material solution and is intended to be recyclable. It can be used with bottles in various volume sizes, according to Alpla.
The pump is available in a standard version, with customers able to customise the colour and shape of the head and closure. Post-consumer recycled material can also be used.
‘Recyclable solution’
“Premium care products deserve high-quality and well-designed packaging,” said Sree Hari R Nair, global head of business pumps and devices at AlplaInject. “The dispenser is the most important point of contact.
“We can offer our customers a tailor-made, durable and, for the first time, recyclable solution for foamers.”
Following a pilot phase, Alpla says it intends to work with anchor customers towards commercial production.
The development builds on Alpla’s existing range of mono-material dispenser pumps. Michael Feltes, managing director of AlplaInject, said the company was seeking to develop solutions that support brand manufacturers’ sustainability goals and the circular economy.
AlplaInject will present the new foam dispenser at Beautyworld Middle East in Dubai from 6 to 8 October 2026.
Novus Advance
The launch follows a similar development from Aptar Beauty, which announced its Novus Advance cosmetic pump earlier this month. The full-polyolefin pump uses PP and PE in its cartridge and is designed for use with HDPE, PP or PET bottles.
Aptar said it can be recycled in PET and PE recycling streams when paired with compatible bottles, and the pump can incorporate post-consumer recycled material.
Novus Advance is designed for hair and body care applications and dispenses 350 or 500 microlitre doses of products including oils, creams and serums.
It also has a twist-to-lock mechanism and cap-free design, with Aptar saying the pump has passed its ISTA-6 overbox testing for e-commerce applications.
