A new joint venture (JV) dedicated to the manufacture of beauty packaging in India has been agreed between Knowlton Development Corporation (KDC) and Clarion Group.
Called KDC/One Clarion Beauty, the partnership will support the growth of beauty and personal care brand owners in the ‘rapidly emerging’ Indian market.
The agreement will cover packaging manufacturing for colour cosmetics, skin care and personal care.
It will involve the construction of a new manufacturing facility in the Gujarat region in the next 12 months, which will produce injection-moulded and metallised beauty packaging.
Quebec-headquartered KDC/One works with consumer products companies and independent brand owners in the ideation, formulation, design, packaging, and manufacturing of products.
Meanwhile, Mumbai-based Clarion is one of the largest contract manufacturers of personal care and home products in India.
Expertise in India
The agreement, which was signed between Sandra Wisniewski, global president of beauty and personal care at KDC/One, and KN Lakshmanan, chairman of the Clarion Group in Chennai, India, will also leverage Clarion local market formulation requirements and KDC/One’s global formulation and innovation expertise in India, the companies said.
“We are delighted to join forces with Clarion Group and combine our individual and collective strengths to enable brand owners to grow their global business in the fast-developing Indian marketplace,” said Wisniewski.
“We look forward to bringing the bespoke packaging design, quality and development credentials of both KDC/One and HCT, and benefitting from Clarion’s significant track-record in India, its highly strategic personal care manufacturing footprint, and its deeply experienced local management team.”
KN Lakshmanan, chairman of the Clarion Group, added: “Our two companies not only have complementary manufacturing, formulation and packaging strengths in the beauty and personal care products sector, but we also share a commitment to providing the highest level of innovation, quality, service, agility and regulatory compliance.”
