German extrusion and printing machine manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) and its subsidiary Garant Maschinenhandel showcased industrial-scale recyclable and mono-material packaging systems at Interpack 2026.
The exhibition in Düsseldorf, held earlier this month, highlighted the growing use of mono-material structures and recycled content, alongside increased integration of automation in packaging production.
On display at the company’s booth were machine direction orientation PE-based structures, mono-material packaging with and without barrier properties, and packaging incorporating post-consumer recycled content.
Manufactured at scale
At the W&H booth, a so-called supermarket shelf was used to present examples of these packaging formats in commercially produced applications, illustrating how recyclable and mono-material solutions are being manufactured at scale across different markets.
Automation systems covering bag making, end-of-line processes and palletising were also presented, reflecting a broader focus on integrated production efficiency from conversion through to final packaging.
W&H and Garant said discussions with customers and partners at the exhibition frequently focused on regulatory requirements and sustainability targets in major markets, particularly in relation to material selection and production efficiency.
