Alpla is expanding its US manufacturing network with a new 13,000 sq m plant in North Las Vegas, Nevada, which is due to begin operations in spring 2027.
The facility, located within the Craig Road Logistics Center, will produce plastics bottles using extrusion blow moulding and serve customers in the food and beverage, health and beauty, and home care sectors.
CAPEX for the site is valued at just over $8 million, according to a filing by Alpla to the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development in August. In the filing, the company also stated that it will create 51 new positions in the first two years of expanded operations, with an average hourly wage of $34.92.
The site will be Alpla’s second manufacturing location in the western US, providing access to major transport corridors and regional distribution networks.
‘Important step’
“This investment represents an important step in Alpla’s long-term North American growth strategy,” said Tasos Pourloukakis, regional managing director of Alpla North America.
“Our North Las Vegas operation will strengthen our ability to serve customers while giving us the capacity and flexibility to adapt as their needs and the market evolve.”
The new facility will be Alpla’s 19th site in the US, providing additional production capacity for future partnerships.
‘Strengthening our production network’
Pourloukakis added: “We’re strengthening our production network in North America as a system provider of high-quality packaging solutions. At the same time, we are deepening our partnership with our customers and offering new employment opportunities to the North Las Vegas community.”
The Las Vegas investment follows Alpla’s expansion in other markets this year. In March, the company opened its first base plant in the Philippines, a 4,800 sq m facility in Calamba City producing plastics bottles and closures.
The company also opened two new facilities in Turkey in September following a €30m ($33.7m) investment. The plants in İzmir and Adana produce PET preforms, closures, and HDPE, PET and PP packaging for customers in western, Mediterranean and south-eastern Turkey.
