Inovar swoops for fellow label producer

Label print and packaging provider Inovar Packaging Group has acquired ModTek a New Jersey-based regional prime label producer serving the food and beverage, craft beer, wine, spirits, and consumer durable food sectors.

The deal marks the 11th platform acquisition for the Dallas, Texas-headquartered business, which has 13 locations nationwide.

Inovar, which produces prime labels, shrink sleeves, and extended content, said the purchase will enhance its portfolio by adding advanced flexographic, digital, and hybrid printing capabilities, as well as premium embellishments, including hot stamping and embossing.

It will also strengthen the company’s position in the north-east, the company added.

‘Looking for opportunities’

“As part of our ongoing efforts to expand and innovate, we are constantly looking for opportunities to enter new markets, attract new customers, and enhance our capabilities through strategic acquisitions,” said Jeff Brezek, chief executive of Inovar.

“The acquisition of ModTek not only strengthens our position across a range of preferred end-markets but also increases our production and distribution capacity in a key region.

“It also allows us to offer additional solutions, including roll-fed, pressure-sensitive, RFID, and sustainability options. Most importantly, this acquisition brings together two talented teams, and we are excited to collaborate with them moving forward.”

Shawn Borman, who established ModTek in 2006 alongside his mother Vicki Wilkinson, and took over sole ownership in 2019, will continue to lead the business in its next phase of growth in partnership with the Inovar team.

“ModTek and Inovar share deep alignment in what is core to our ongoing success, and that is a continued emphasis on taking great care of our customers, our employees, and our partners,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to all the success and value our combined companies will be able to achieve.”
