KHS adds expertise with Tyrolon deal

KHS Group has boosted its bottle-handling expertise by acquiring a majority share in Austrian conveying specialist Tyrolon-Schulnig.

While Tyrolon’s systems are already being used on KHS lines, the two companies plan to jointly further develop currently established equipment, such as conveying stars and neck clamp systems.

KHS claimed that whether for a new line or as a retrofit package for existing machinery, Tyrolon’s bottle conveying technology is among the world’s best for efficiency, flexibility and occupational safety.

This expertise has been amalgamated into its portfolio with immediate effect, the company added.

“This holding binds two companies closer together that already worked extremely successfully together in the past,” said Martin Resch, managing director of the KHS Group.

“It’s therefore not only good strategy to further develop this knowledge with the focus on the high-performance range. First and foremost, it also gives our customers significant added value, with systems and solutions now available from a single source.”

Founded in 1981, family business Tyrolon-Schulnig is known for the development and production of two systems.

The first is the Tyrolon Star, which the company says enables gentle, efficient and versatile conveying of bottles and other containers of various shapes and sizes.

The other system is the universal Tyrolon neck clamp, which Tyolon claims offers high-quality, low maintenance, and a long service life when compared with competitor systems.

“KHS’s reliable machines and systems harmonise perfectly with our products,” said Ludwig Schulnig, chief executive and founder of Tyrolon-Schulnig. “I’m convinced that we will further optimise container-handling through our intensified partnership and that our clients will profit from even more effective and sustainable production.”

Having access to KHS’s worldwide organisation will also give Tyrolon considerable opportunities for growth, Schulnig added.

Both companies emphasised their loyalty to their respective locations, and in particular to the Tyrolon workforce at the company’s Hochfilzen headquarters in Austria.
