Nelipak, a provider of healthcare packaging, has completed the purchase of Merrill’s Packaging, a producer of custom thermoformed packs for medical devices, pharmaceutical uses, life sciences and other technical applications.
Merrill’s Packaging also supplies related items such as die cut pouch and mounting cards, along with design, development and tooling services. It operates two sites; one in Burlingame, California, and one in Alajuela, Costa Rica. Both facilities hold ISO 13485 certification and contain cleanrooms that meet ISO Class 8 requirements.
Pat Chambliss, chief executive at Nelipak, said: “We are excited to welcome the Merrill’s Packaging team to the Nelipak family. We have tremendous respect for their history of growth, innovation, and customer focus.
‘Thermoforming capabilities’
“Nelipak will benefit from Merrill’s dedicated and talented team, custom thermoforming capabilities, strong customer relationships, and well-located production sites in California and Costa Rica.”
Rick Schulz, Merrill’s chief executive, said: “This is an incredible growth opportunity for Merrill’s employees and customers. With access to Nelipak’s global capabilities and broad suite of rigid and flexible product solutions, we look forward to exploring new ways to deliver value to our customers.”
Merrill’s was founded in 1961. It has grown through a long focus on technical thermoforming and by expanding its production base, which included entering Costa Rica in 2010 and opening a larger site there in 2024.
