Truvant acquires US health packaging specialist Multi-Pak

Truvant, a contract packaging and co-manufacturing company, has acquired Multi-Pak Packaging as it expands its capabilities in vitamins, supplements and consumer health products.

Multi-Pak, based in West Caldwell, New Jersey, provides packaging for vitamins, minerals and supplements, over-the-counter solid dose products, and consumer health products. It also serves the beauty, personal care, and medical device sectors.

The company operates more than 180,000 sq ft of packaging space and has capabilities across primary and secondary packaging.

Bottling capacity

These include bottling capacity of more than 250 million bottles a year and blister packaging capacity of more than 500 million blisters a year for tablets, caplets and softgels. Multi-Pak also provides pouching and sachet packaging and operates a dedicated probiotics centre with cold chain handling.

Multi-Pak also packages Class 1 medical devices and provides secondary packaging services such as cartoning, kitting and display assembly, alongside sourcing, procurement and warehousing.

The acquisition brings the New Jersey operation into Truvant’s network of six campuses across North America and Europe. Multi-Pak will continue operating from its West Caldwell facility.

‘Global network’

John Culligan, founder of Multi-Pak, said: “Becoming part of a larger global network gives us the scale to serve our customers better, and it creates new opportunities for our employees while expanding the capabilities and resources available to our customers.”

Stew Atkinson, chief executive of Truvant, said: “Multi-Pak strengthens our capabilities in attractive, high-growth end-markets while expanding the value we deliver to customers.”

The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

In related acquisition news, Chester Medical recently bought England-based health food supplements manufacturer Power Health Products.

Power Health Products manufactures health food supplements, sports nutrition and natural hair and skin care products on a contract basis.
