Axium Packaging, a manufacturer of plastics packaging for consumer goods companies, has opened a new manufacturing plant in Brampton, Ontario.
The 227,000 sq ft facility is the company’s third site in the province since it was founded in 2010 and houses production lines for injection stretch blow moulding, extrusion blow moulding, injection moulding and finishing and decoration. It is connected to Axium’s enterprise resource management system.
Axium Packaging founder and chief executive Pushminder Judge said: “This facility leverages the latest Axium equipment and processing technology and will be a platform to serve our customers across Canada with speed and agility.
“Canada is home for us, and Brampton is the ideal place to keep building on that vision while supporting our employees, their families and economic development throughout the region.”
Recycled material
The site contains 10 plastics resin silos, three of which store post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics. The company currently uses PCR plastics in up to 30 per cent of its packaging and said the additional storage capacity will allow it to hold more recycled material as required.
Judge said: ”We are excited to deepen our investment in this supportive community and to seize the growth opportunities Canada’s leading consumer product companies offer Axium.
“By introducing innovative technology and advancing sustainable products and operations, we are proud to deliver best-in-class packaging solutions here, and across North America.”
Axium was established in Mississauga, Ontario, and now operates 25 facilities in North America. The Brampton plant has already started production and will supply packaging for sectors including food, personal care, household cleaning, pharmaceuticals, health care and nutrition.
