Italian packaging machinery supplier Altopack has unveiled new packaging for dry pasta featuring a transverse resealable zip.
The new wrapping, specifically designed for spaghetti, is said to feature an open-and-zip close mechanism that allows consumers to reseal the pack after every use.
This helps to preserve the product’s freshness and protect it from external contamination over time, the company said.
The resealable zip packaging is also available in a bundled version featuring individual 100g portions wrapped with food-grade paper bands.
This configuration is said to allow consumers to take only the required amount while keeping the remaining product better protected and preserved.
The design has generated significant global interest, particularly in the Middle East, where a machine capable of producing this packaging format has been installed at a company in the region, Altopack said.
Square-bottom pack
The new innovation complement’s Altopack’s square-bottom spaghetti pack, which is patent protected and produced on the company’s AOD Ultra machine.
A finalist at the 2020 Oscar dell’Imballaggio (Italian Packaging Awards), the pack is claimed to combine a distinctive appearance with practical advantages, including the ability to be displayed both front-facing and on its side, increasing shelf visibility.
Thanks to printable surfaces on every side, the pack enhances brand communication, product identification, and nutritional information while strengthening overall merchandising impact, Altopack suggested.
Headquartered in Altopascio, near Lucca, Altopack specialises in the design and manufacture of a range of packaging equipment, from standalone machines to highly automated complete lines. It has a particular focus on the food industry.
