Baerlocher zones in on European markets with spin-off

The Baerlocher Group is restructuring to focus on the needs of European markets.

Effective from 1 July 2026, the operational business of Baerlocher GmbH – which supplies additives to the plastics industry – will be transferred to an independent entity.

The newly formed company, which will run as Baerlocher Germany GmbH & Co. KG, with a headquarters in Lingen, will be responsible for the PVC and Special Additives (SPA) business units within the European sales region.

It will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Baerlocher GmbH, which will focus on its holding function.

The move aims to “clearly separate the operational business in Germany and Europe from the central holding functions”, according to Arne Schulle, chief executive of the Baerlocher Group and Dr Thomas Doege, managing director of Baerlocher Germany GmbH & Co. KG.

‘More efficient’

“With this new structure, we are making our organisation clearer, more transparent, and more efficient,” said Schulle.

“This allows us to establish explicit responsibilities, streamline decision-making processes, and focus even more closely on our customers’ needs.”

Doege said customer continuity would be maintained with usual points of contact and the working relationship remaining unchanged.

“Europe remains a challenging market environment” declared Doege.

“As part of the global Baerlocher network, we offer our European customers supply reliability and high-quality products and services across a range of polymer and non-polymer applications.

‘Sustainability expertise’

“Sustainability continues to play a vital role – we support our customers with the sustainability expertise we have built up over many years, along with tailored solutions and innovative products.”

The history of the Baerlocher Group stretches back more than 200 years.

It supplies plastics additives globally, with its PVC business unit serving PVC polymer applications; and the SPA unit providing special purpose additives for various polymer and non-polymer industries.

Its portfolio includes oleochemical products, metal soaps, and complex additive systems designed to improve processing and product performance.

With its Baerolub AID product family, Baerlocher offers a per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances-free alternative for polymer processing aids.
