Brazil-based Valgroup has installed the first HP Indigo 200K digital press in South America.
Designed specifically for flexible packaging, the installation is the 400th such machine to be installed globally.
Powered by HP’s Liquid Electrophotography technology, the Indigo 200K is said to offer a 45 per cent boost in productivity compared with its predecessors.
According to Valgroup, ‘significant efficiency gains’ are expected from the digital press, including greater speed-to-market and the freeing up of more factory space.
“Valgroup has embraced the HP Indigo 200K to innovate within the packaging industry,” said Marcus Correa, laminated films commercial manager.
“We are now offering our customers a sustainable structure where we replace the PET from flexible packaging using an exclusive material that we produce in our extrusion plants.”
The move highlights the company’s transition into labels and shrink sleeves with enhanced customisation options, he added.
Better colour quality
Correa stressed that the main features of the 200K, such as SpotMaster, would increase Valgroup’s set-up times and bring more colour reproduction quality to its customers.
“Sustainability is central to Valgroup’s sustainability ethos, so the digital print is the cherry on the cake because it’s the most sustainable printing process on the market,” Correa claimed.
“This bolsters Valgroup’s environmental credentials and sets a new standard for packaging in Brazil.”
The installation enables Valgroup to cater to new sectors such as food and beverages with an emphasis on sustainable practices, Correa said.
“We are now focusing on developing markets that we were not present in the past because of the volumes,” he pointed out.
