Antiquity-inspired Ucima redesigns logo

The Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (Ucima) has marked the beginning of a new era by relaunching its logo, influenced by what general manager Gian Paolo Crasta calls “less-is-more”.

The new logo, revealed during a gala event entitled ‘L’Anima del Packaging’ (‘The soul of packaging’) held in Modena to celebrate the association’s 40th anniversary, is characterised by a letter U with a softer and more minimalist typeface.

The symbol used is a stylised amphora, an ancient vessel representing the oldest form of packaging. Used in antiquity to store and transport food, spices and wine, the amphora now serves as a symbol of the protective and unifying qualities of packaging. The design conveys the concepts of protection, hospitality and union, claims Ucima.

Three dynamic lines have been added to the letter U, symbolising the rapid movement of packaging machines as they wrap and seal a product.

“For Ucima, this era will be defined by our continued commitment to guiding our companies along the paths of technological evolution and international competitiveness while safeguarding the excellence and leadership we have built over time,” said Ucima chairman Riccardo Cavanna.
